What I am about to tell you, is all you need to know about making the most of your college years. Sure, college is about going to class, deciding a major and one day finding a career you are passionate about. But college as an experience is more than textbooks and office hours, it's about involvement, finding your niche and having a great time. This campus can be overwhelming and for some, incredibly intimidating, but there is a way for you to make this campus seem smaller and more comfortable. It's as simple as getting involved in campus activities. There are so many student groups on this campus that range from academics to hobbies and interests: Campus Gamers Association, Chicks with Flicks, Residence Hall Council, the Hip-Hip Committee and the U of M Role Players. And that my friends, is only the tip of the iceberg. The Student Activities Office, housed in Coffman, is the center for all student organizations on campus. They monitor and register student groups and act as a liaison to the rest of the university. To access this amazing list of organizations, go to www.sao.umn.edu. Getting involved in clubs, intramurals and organizations can only add to your overall college experience. You'll find study partners, mentors and friends for life. Trust me, being a part of any organization on this campus can make the university feel a little more like home. Your college experience is what you make of it, so join in, get involved and experience the best years of your life.
